After writing my first spaghetti western royalty free song “Bring Me The West” I wanted to try a spaghetti western type song that was a little slower and sombre.

The fundamental motif for Whiskey Bottle Dawn came about whilst some time away with my wife at a little cottage in the hills behind Murwillumbah in Northern NSW.

With rain soaking the winter-dry border ranges, I sat on the little verhanda of the cottage and worked on an idea on my Gretsch Alligator resonator guitar. That idea is “Whiskey Bottle Dawn”.

I had a fascinating time putting this video clip together for the track using images from the “American West” collection from the US National Archives.
